Gauge and Sizing
3 sts x 2 rows = 4″ worked in herringbone stitch
Your finished herringbone capelet will measure approximately 10″ wide by 34″ long.
- K – Knit
- kwise – Knitwise
- P – Purl
- P2tog – Purl 2 Together
- Sl1k – Slip one Knitwise
The Herringbone Capelet works up lightning fast with mega bulky yarn. You’ll begin with one contrasting color and knit until it is complete. You’ll then add the other color and finish off the pattern with the second skein.
A video tutorial for the herringbone stitch can be found here:
How to Knit the Herringbone Stitch with Brittany
Cast on 12.
Row 1: k first stitch. *Sl1k. K next stitch. Insert left needle in slipped stitch. Lift it over the last stitch and hold it on your left needle. Insert right needle in slipped stitch kwise. Wrap the yarn and complete as if to knit. Repeat from 8 to end of row.
Row 2: *P2tog but do not slip them off your needle. P the first stitch on the needle again and slip both stitches off the needle. Repeat from * to end of row.
Repeat rows 1-2 until your first skein runs out. Add in contrast color skein and repeat rows 1-2 until that skein runs out. Bind off and weave in your ends.
